NOTICE: Meeting of the 7-Towns

Including: Brazeau, Breed, Doty, Lakewood,

Mountain, Riverview and Townsend



The Town Boards of Brazeau, Breed, Doty, Lakewood, Mountain, Riverview and Townsend will meet on: Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the Riverview Town Hallon County HWY 32.  The purpose of the meeting is to discuss areas of mutual interest and concern and to consider actions to address such concerns.

  • Roll call.
  • Invocation.
  • Pledge of Allegiance.
  • Establish the order of the day.                                         


Business Items:


  1. Review and approve the most recent minutes of the 7-Town group.
  2. Discussion regarding a second recreation officer for this northern area of our County
    • Guest: Ed Janke, Chief Deputy of the Oconto County Sheriff’s Department
    • NOTE: Town chairpersons should be certain to invite the officials of their Town Lake Associations to attend and be informed of what Mr. Janke has to report.
  3. Concealed Carry issue (tabled from June, 2016 meeting.)  Guest: Bruce Watruba
  4. Informational item: Retirement of Pete Renteria, Deputy Zoning Administrator.  Discuss need for this role.  Discuss selection timeline for replacement.
  5. Presentation of the Oconto County Economic Development Corporation (OCEDC) regarding 2016 accomplishments and goals going forward.  Guest: Paul Ehrfurth, Executive Director
  6. Discussion: Enforcement of campers/trailers parked for excessive time periods.  Is it a problem?  How do we achieve compliance?  Who at the County will work with us to bring adherence to statues and/or ordinance?
  7. Humane Office discussion topic. Guest: Mike Rzepka
    • Question: When no one is available to care for someone’s pets/animals if that person is hospitalized or incapacitated, how are the animals to be cared for?
    • Who pays for the care?
    • For how long?
  8. Seven-Town viability discussion.
    • Question: Is the Seven-town purpose which is to “discuss areas of mutual interest and concern and to consider actions to address such concerns” viable and valuable?  Is it working?  Should we continue?  Modification needed regarding our objective/purpose?
    • How committed is each town to work as a group?
